Carp fishing conference -Montreal 2013

    The two big carp fishing associations in Montreal,Carp Quebec and Les Pecheures urbaine ,come together and organize the first fishing conference for 2013 .

We have a good response ,18 anglers show up for 3 hours of information and technique in carp fishing .

We start with basic information on types of carp ,where they live ,what they eat .Then move on to localisation in specific areas ,mostly on rivers ,this is the most common areas we fish .

From this we go to tackle ,simple rigs ,set ups with different leads ,mono ,lead core . Basic information on different rods and reels ,with presentation of different models .

Then we move on baits ,and show different types of boilies mixes ,method mix , pellets ,boilies ,particles ,plastic baits .

On the end we answer questions from all the participants .

The interest for carp fishing is growing very good ,with a lot of new anglers coming to the sport .Our big problem is a lack of tackle and bait in Montreal area ,the single way of buing this, is by ordering on line from Carp Kit ,or USA and UK based shops .

With the big numbers of carp anglers on our area , is hope for a tackle shop with good bait and tackle .

With the big interest show after the first conference ,we decide to do a second one ,in a bigger location ,where we can accommodate 40 to 50 persons .

On the second conference we will go deeper on types of bait ,baiting techniques ,watercraft and tackle .

Like all the good things ,the fishing season is coming to a end .The weather start to change from bad to worst ,temperatures go from plus 3-4 to minus 5-6 ,strong winds ,and same snow .So is time for the last session of 2012 . By mid week I put in a bucket same rolled oats and sweet corn ,on top of this emptied a bottle of liquid bloodworm from CCMOORE ,give them a mix , and let them stay for two days .Friday morning before work ,I go to the spot I plan to fish ,and put same 20 spombs in . After work go and put again same 25 spombs in .

The weather for Saturday was not to bad winds 10-15 km /h. ,steady rain and plus 2-3 C. .Start fishing at 9 am ,on the rods feeders with the same mix that I use to bait ,and on the hooks Hellraiserse secret obsessions pop ups from CCMoore .Time go on ,and not a lot of action ,honestly ,I did not expect more than one or two runs .First run come at 2,30 pm .A nice 12 pd.er common to sweet my day .After this fish I put same 12-15 more spombs in the area . With the evening coming the weather get bad with really heavy rain and the temperature drop to plus one .By 4 pm ,I start thinking that all come to a end ,and is time to say good buy to the 2012 season . Slowly start packing ,and by no were come a run ,out of the bivvy and start a battle with a fish that seems to be a good un .After 10 minutes of fight ,a big nice common come to the net . Put it on the scale ,and what a great end of the season 34,7 pd. . Yesssssss all the hard work ,cold ,wind ,rain disappeared ,and remain just the sweet feeling of good job done .To make the things better ,in the next 30 minutes I got three more runs ,with fish 26 ,29 and 30 pd. on the net . The rain and cold start to get on me ,so was time to go home .

Technical fishing......... that sound a bit different ,let see on next story . With same great fall days in front of us ,I decide to give a try on a short day from 10 am to 6 pm ,in my regular spot .Set up ,put a few method balls in ,and wait ,one hour ,two hours , nothing ,just two linears .Same thing do not work ,so lets make same changes ,I put a smaller hook ,no 6 ,in a running rig ,and a piece of plastic corn with one tiger tutti from CCMoore , like a very small snow man .Half hour ,and the first run come ,after a battle of 15 min. ,a nice 32 pd. come to say hello . For the next four hours I had steady runs ,6 more fish on the mat .So that small technical change to running rigs ,small hooks and the tiger tutti from CCMoore give me a chance to have a good session .
